Job summary

Community Health Systems is seeking a Medical Lab Technician to conduct routine and specialized diagnostic tests on blood, body fluids, and other specimens, supporting accurate and timely patient diagnosis.

The role requires experience with moderate and high-complexity testing, quality control, and regulatory compliance, along with equipment maintenance and safe lab practices. Collaboration with healthcare professionals is essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of laboratory testing principles, quality control practices, and specimen handling.
• Proficiency with laboratory instruments, LIS platforms, and data entry.
• Ability to follow established protocols and regulatory guidelines (e.g., CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived, moderate, and high-complexity tests following established procedures; reviews results for accuracy.
• Operates and troubleshoots laboratory equipment; performs preventive maintenance.
• Performs quality control and documents corrective actions for out-of-range results.
• Documents patient test results in LIS and reports critical results.
• Collects blood specimens via venipuncture and capillary techniques with proper ID and labeling.
• Investigates and resolves issues related to specimen collection, processing, and testing; escalates when needed.
• Participates in training students and new personnel; provides feedback.
• Performs other duties as assigned; maintains regular attendance; complies with policies.
