Job summary

Labcorp in Portland, OR is seeking a Technician to join the Microbiology department. Schedule: Monday-Friday 11:00 PM - 07:30 AM with rotating weekends. Location: 4400 NE Halsey Street, Portland, OR 97213.

You will perform routine and complex procedures, determine specimen acceptability, monitor instruments, and document results to support quality patient care. The ideal candidate has an associate degree in chemical/biological science or medical technology, and at least one year of clinical lab

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures according to SOPs.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.

Labcorp is seeking a Technician to join our team in Portland, OR.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 11:00 PM - 07:30 AM with rotating weekends

Job Responsibilities
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
Preferred Qualification
  • Current or prior Labcorp experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification
Additional Job Standards
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
