Working Shifts/Location:

• Hours: 10 hrs/4 shifts (1600-0230 or 1700-0330) OR 8 hrs/5 shifts (1600-0030 or 1700-0130)
• Evenings/Nights
• Weekends: Every third weekend
• Location: Microbiology Lab at St. Mary's Hospital

Job Description:

Medical Lab Technicians (MLTII) assist physicians and specialists by performing testing on blood, tissue, and bodily fluids. They confirm test results and provide data for diagnosis and treatment.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Perform routine, moderate, and complex diagnostic tests.
2. Confirm test results and provide data for medical decisions.
3. Follow quality control protocols to ensure accuracy.
4. Record and evaluate Quality Control data.
5. Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
6. Assist in training new employees and students.
7. Use Lab and Hospital Information Systems.
8. Participate in continuing education.
9. Manage inventory control.

Minimum Requirements:

Licensing/Certification: MLT certification or eligibility (preferably ASCP).

Education: Associate's degree in Medical Lab Technology, or completion of 60 semester hours including chemistry and biology, plus a certified medical lab technician program, or a 50-week military medical lab training course within the past ten years.

Work Experience: At least 5 years in a clinical laboratory setting.
