Work Shift: Days/Afternoons (United States of America)
Working Shifts/Location:
Hours: 0600-1630 (10hrs/4 shifts)
Weekends shifts: Every third weekend
Location: Microbiology Lab at St. Mary's Hospital
Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
Medical Laboratory Scientists (also known as clinical laboratory scientists or medical technologists) perform testing on patient samples to detect various diseases. They examine samples such as body fluids, feces, cells, and tissues, and report results to physicians, consulting on findings as needed.

Licensing/Certification
For BSMH, MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligibility via a recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) is required.
For RSFH (as of 3/27/25), if registry-eligible, certification must be achieved within 12 months of hire.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Biochemistry from a CLIA-approved program is required.
Work Experience
Externship completed is preferred.
