Job summary

Penn State Health Milton Hershey Medical Center is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist I for the Special Hematology Lab in Hershey, PA. You will perform complex tests on blood and body fluids, identify microorganisms, and assist in cellular therapies.

Responsibilities include cross-matching for transfusion and organ transplantation, with opportunities for professional development within a Magnet-designated academic medical center environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; substitution allowed with an Associate degree if MLS/MT certified.
• Eligible for ASCP, AMT or equivalent board certification within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex lab tests on blood, body fluids, cells and tissues.
• Identify bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms; analyze chemical content of fluids.
• Cross match blood for transfusion and organ transplantation.
• Aseptically prepare cells for use in cellular therapies.
