Job summary

Penn State Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist I for the Special Hematology Lab at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. You will perform complex tests on blood, body fluids and tissues, identify organisms, cross-match blood for transfusion and prepare cells for cellular therapies.

This is a full-time position within a premier academic medical center. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree; ASCP/AMT eligibility and certification within 18 months if not currently certified.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; an Associate degree may substitute for a Bachelors.
• If not certified as MLS/MT, eligible for ASCP/AMT or equivalent exam and certification within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells and tissues; identify bacteria, parasites and other microorganisms; analyze chemical content of fluids; cross match blood for transfusion and organ transplantation; aseptically prepare cells for cellular therapies.
