Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for the Core Laboratory at Lorain Hospital. The role involves performing routine tests on blood and body fluids, ensuring accuracy and patient safety across rotating evenings and nights with weekend/holiday rotations.

Required BS in CLIA-approved program and MLS certification or eligibility, with externship preferred. Competitive benefits and a supportive team environment are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field (CLIA-approved program).
• MLS Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized agency (ASCP preferred).
• Externship program completed is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, accurate manner per procedures.
• Determines acceptability of specimens via visual inspection or abnormal results.
• Recognizes factors affecting measurements and takes appropriate action per protocols.
• Performs quality control for all testing and ensures results meet established ranges.
• Maintains a safe, efficient work environment; performs equipment checks and troubleshooting.
• Other duties as assigned.
