Job summary

Boys Town National Research Hospital is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to join the West Hospital team. The role involves following laboratory procedures and policies to maximize efficiency and accuracy across diverse test areas.

Schedule is full-time with early morning hours and rotating weekends and holidays. Responsibilities include performing and reporting a wide range of tests, maintaining instruments, and providing guidance to clinicians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or chemical, physical, biological sciences from an accredited college or university is required.
• Completion of one year of full-time laboratory experience or training in the specialty or sub-specialty is required.
• Registered by the ASCP or equivalent is required.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Records, prepares, performs, evaluates, and reports patient tests across chemistry, microbiology, molecular (PCR), hematology, serology, coagulation and blood bank tests.
• Communicates results to providers and staff; ensures test results interpretation.
• Operates and maintains laboratory instruments; troubleshoots issues and references serious problems to supervisor.
• Provides training and supervision for new staff and ongoing assessment of competency.
