Job summary

Boys Town National Research Hospital in Omaha, NE is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to join our team. You will follow laboratory procedures to maximize efficiency and accuracy, performing a broad range of tests and ensuring quality control.

The role includes testing chemistry, microbiology, hematology, molecular (PCR), blood bank work, and communicating results to providers. Schedule is 5:00 AM-1:30 PM with rotating weekends and holidays at West Hospital.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or chemical, physical, biological sciences from an accredited college or university.
• One year of full-time laboratory experience or training in the specialty or sub-specialty.
• ASCP certification and BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Records, prepares, performs, evaluates, and reports patient tests across chemistry, microscopic, microbiology, molecular (PCR), hematology, serology, coagulation and blood bank tests.
• Communicates with providers and other staff concerning procedure results and their interpretation.
• Operates, calibrates and maintains clinical lab instruments and equipment; troubleshoots problems.
• Provides supervision and training for new or less skilled personnel or during absence of supervisors.
• Collaborates with clinicians to correlate clinic information with testing results.
