Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for the St. Vincent Medical Center Medical Office Building 2.

The MLS performs routine laboratory tests on blood, tissues, and other specimens, delivering high-quality results to physicians while safeguarding patient safety and confidentiality. The position requires a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field from a CLIA-approved program and MLS certification or eligibility (ASCP preferred).

Qualifications

• BS in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry from a CLIA-approved program (required)
• MLS certification or eligible (ASCP preferred) (required)
• Externship completed (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, accurate manner according to procedures
• Determines acceptability of specimens by visual inspection or by recognizing abnormal results
• Performs quality control and ensures results meet established ranges before reporting
• Maintains safety and equipment by routine checks and cleaning of work areas
• Troubleshoots laboratory equipment as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned
