Job summary

Valley Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Lab Technician with phlebotomy certification to support pre-analytical and analytical processes in our clinical laboratory.

This role requires strong communication, precise documentation, and adherence to HIPAA and CLIA guidelines. You will perform venipunctures, prepare specimens, enter results into the EHR, and assist in coordinating care with the medical team.

Qualifications

• Must have MA or Phlebotomy certification.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills.
• Ability to perform venipunctures and collect specimens.

Responsibilities

• Performs analyses on specimens to aid in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Maintains specimen identification throughout testing and reporting.
• Performs venipunctures and capillary draws on patients.
• Prepares specimens for shipment to reference lab.
• Enters results for all in-house testing in the EHR.
• Creates requisitions/labels for all lab orders.
• Performs instrument startup, shutdown, and maintenance as required.
• Ensures lab supplies are well stocked and completes a lab supply order form for replenishment.
• Recognizes abnormal values and notifies physician according to protocol.
• Maintains records (QC, logs, maintenance, troubleshooting) for assigned tasks.
• Maintains confidentiality and professional demeanor; participates in the care team.
