Job summary

Spring View Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Assistant (PRN) to perform venipuncture and specimen collection, support order entry, and handle clerical workflows. The role includes answering laboratory phones, assisting with inventory, and maintaining specimen integrity. Reports to the department director or manager.

The position requires a high school diploma (preferred) and phlebotomy certification (preferred). Comprehensive benefits and ongoing professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma preferred.
• License/Certification: Phlebotomy Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review providers' orders and enter tests per requisition.
• Verify patient identity using two identifiers before collections.
• Obtain blood specimens via venipuncture, finger stick, or heel stick.
• Label specimens with two identifiers, date/time, and collector initials.
• Perform chain-of-custody urine drug screens and breath alcohol testing.
• Coordinate drug-monitoring collections with nursing to align dose and draw time.

Education

High School diploma preferred

Phlebotomy Certification preferred
