Cardiac Study Center in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Medical Insurance Billing Specialist for outpatient cardiology services. The ideal candidate has at least one year of healthcare and medical billing experience, familiarity with CMS1500/PHI, strong organization, and the ability to work independently

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of healthcare experience.
• At least 1 year of medical billing and insurance claim processing experience.
• Familiarity with CMS1500, COB, PHI and other medical billing terminology.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Call insurance to check claim status, reprocess claims, and file appeals.
• Analyze aging reports and address outstanding or denied claims.
• Identify trends in insurance denials and escalate as needed.
• Ensure HIPAA-compliant account activity and document interactions.
• Post payments and ensure proper balance allocation across accounts.
• Adjust and resubmit claims to primary and secondary payers; coordinate with staff.

About the Role

As a Medical Insurance Billing Specialist, you'll play a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of our outpatient cardiology services. Your work ensures timely and accurate insurance processing, supports patients through excellent billing communications, and strengthens clinic operations through compliant and detailed account management. This role offers a hands‑on opportunity to collaborate across departments while deepening your understanding of medical billing in a specialty setting.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Claims & Insurance Follow-UpCall insurance companies to check claim status, reprocess claims, and file appeals
• Analyze aging reports and address outstanding or denied claims
• Identify trends in insurance denials and escalates as needed
• Compliance & DocumentationEnsure all account activity and claim communications are HIPAA-compliantDocument every account interaction with clarity and accuracy
• Post payments and ensure proper balance allocation across accounts
• Billing & Communication SupportAdjust and resubmit claims to primary and secondary payersParticipate in phone rotations to support incoming billing-related callsCoordinate with clinical and administrative staff to resolve claim-related issues

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Required:High School Diploma or GEDAt least 1 year of healthcare experienceAt least 1 year of medical billing and insurance claim processing experienceFamiliarity with CMS1500, COB, PHI, and other medical billing terminologyStrong organizational, multitasking, and time management skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environmentComfortable using payer websites for eligibility and claim statusStrong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Preferred:Experience with EPICor similar EMR systems(e.g., cardiology)
