Job summary

AFC Urgent Care | Bethany Clinic in Portland, OR is seeking a Medical Front Desk Receptionist to welcome patients, check them in, verify insurance, and guide them through checkout in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll handle calls, emails, and faxes, keep the lobby tidy, and support the clinic team. The role offers full-time hours, paid training, and a team bonus culture with benefits including health coverage and PTO.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of people-facing customer service experience, required.
• At least 1 year of experience with medical administrative duties, preferred.
• Solid computer skills and comfortable learning new systems.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a big plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients with a warm, friendly attitude that sets the tone for their visit.
• Guide patients through check-in, ensuring forms are completed and entered into the EMR accurately.
• Verify insurance details quickly and confidently, explaining coverage and any payment due at time of service.
• Complete the checkout process, organizing and scanning medical records and providing documentation to patients.
• Manage incoming phone calls, routing them to the right team member without delay.
• Stay on top of emails and faxes, handling requests promptly and accurately.
• Handle cash drawer duties from setup to end-of-day closeout with precision.
• Keep front desk and lobby area clean, calm, and welcoming, disinfecting between patients.
• Jump in where needed to support the clinic team and take on other tasks as assigned.
