Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Receptionist to support clerical and scheduling duties. The role includes answering calls, greeting visitors, and guiding patients through Epic EMR registration and check-in processes.

Responsibilities include loading demographics, verifying insurance, collecting HIPAA consents, handling co-pays, and processing payments within Epic. The position requires a high school diploma and prior medical reception experience in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Previous medical reception experience required.
• Internal Receptionist 2 candidates must have at least two years' experience in a Receptionist 1 position with Mercyhealth or be cross trained in 3 or more clinic departments/locations.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming telephone calls, determine caller purpose, and forward to appropriate personnel.
• Schedule patient appointments and manage EMR-Epic registration/check-in processes.
• Load, verify, and update patient demographics in the EMR.
• Scan, load, and verify insurance coverage for patients.
• Collect signed HIPAA and Consent for Treatment documents and route to Medical Records.
• Provide patient with estimated self-pay obligations and post payments in Epic.
• Maintain daily cash handling and close out cash drawer; assist with cashiering and online payments.
