Job summary

Advantage Surgical and Wound Care in the Alexandria, LA area is seeking a Part-Time Wound Care Specialist (1-2 days/week) to deliver bedside wound care in the post-acute setting across multiple facilities, with weekday commitments and no on-call, evenings, or weekends. A valid state medical license (MD/DO) is required; board certification is preferred (Family Practice or Internal Medicine).

General practitioners are welcome to apply, along with a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments in wound care with attention to risk factors.
• Collaborate with facility staff to implement effective wound care plans.
• Perform wound debridement and prescribe appropriate dressings.
• Educate nursing staff and maintain communication with primary care physicians and families.
• Order necessary medications and provide clear usage instructions.
• Provide quality wound care to geriatric patients.

Duties

• Weekday commitment: No call, evenings, or weekends


• Deliver wound care at the bedside in the post-acute care setting.


• Round daily at multiple facilities


• No supervisory commitment

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, paying special attention to factors that increase the risk of wound formation.


• Collaborate with facility staff to ensure an effective wound care plan.


• Perform wound debridement and prescribe appropriate wound dressings.


• Educate nursing staff, and maintain open communication with primary care physicians, families, and clinical teams as required.


• Order necessary medications and provide clear instructions for their use.


• Provide quality patient care to the Geriatric patient population.
