Job summary

QSAC is seeking a detailed Medical Coordinator to support the Nursing team by securing and tracking medical appointments, orders and medication availability, and maintaining medical records.

The role emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and collaboration with staff to ensure health and welfare of individuals served, with potential site relocation to hospitals or doctors' offices as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years’ work experience in medical field preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ work experience in Administrative/Office role required.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license in good standing required.
  • CPR/First Aid, AMAP & SCIP-R, Driver training certifications necessary.
  • Fluency in medical terminology useful, but not mandatory.
  • Ability to safely assist lifting individuals and 20 lb items.
  • Must communicate effectively with others and individuals served.
  • Flexibility and collaboration are essential.
  • Ability to run if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule all medical, lab and specialty medical appointments.
  • Ensure all medication orders are current and recorded for authorized staff.
  • Complete weekly inventory of medications to ensure adequate supply.
  • Obtain results for all lab work and specialty appointments promptly.
  • Notify residence and day program of any medication changes.
  • Update medical consults with pertinent information.
  • Disseminate information to colleagues and staff as appropriate.
  • Submit monthly calendar of appointments for family notification.
  • May report to alternate work location (e.g. Hospital, Dr.’s Office).
  • Maintain individual/family confidentiality.
  • Attend trainings and in-services provided.
  • Commit to QSAC values and adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate professional demeanor and privacy on medical concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or senior management.
  • Ensure health, safety & welfare of individuals.
