Job summary

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of coding experience, strong knowledge of coding principles, and may have AHIMA or AAPC certification. This role emphasizes accuracy, compliance, and collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• AHIMA/AAPC coding program with certification is preferred.
• 1 year of coding experience required.
• AHIMA/AAPC certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assigns ICD-10, CPT and/or HCPCS codes per guidelines.
• Reviews medical documentation to ensure codes are supported.
• Researches patient accounts to respond to questions and errors.
• Maintains productivity and accuracy standards in the department.
• Communicates with providers for clarification or additional documentation as needed.
• Collaborates with team and other departments to meet monthly goals.
