Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a skilled medical coder to review and accurately code complex inpatient services, procedures, and overnight stays. You will adhere to ICD and CPT guidelines while ensuring reimbursement aligns with payer rules.

Collaborate with the CDI team and management to resolve coding questions, drive accurate DRG assignments, and support quality and compliance across the coding workflow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• AHIMA-accredited coding program with certification is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years coding experience required.
• Certification in CCS, CIC, RHIA, or RHIT is required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assign ICD-10 codes within established guidelines and regulations.
• Review medical documentation to ensure sufficient support for codes.
• Research patient accounts to address questions or errors.
• Maintain productivity and accuracy standards in the department.
• Collaborate with the CDI nurse to improve documentation and DRG assignment.
• Work with team to meet monthly goals and address denials or edits.
• Verify discharge disposition based on medical documentation.
• Perform other related duties as required.
