Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a skilled Medical Coder to review and accurately code outpatient services, ED, lab, radiology and other basic services. You will assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes, ensuring documentation supports codes and aligns with payer guidelines.

Collaboration with providers and team members is essential to meet accuracy and productivity targets. Required is a high school diploma or equivalent; AHIMA/AAPC certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; AHIMA/AAPC certification preferred.
• 1 year coding experience or AHIMA/AAPC certification required.
• Proficiency in verbal and written communication; data entry and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assigns ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes within guidelines.
• Review documentation to ensure codes are supported.
• Communicate with providers for clarification as needed.
• Collaborate with team to meet monthly productivity and accuracy goals.
• Research patient accounts to resolve questions or errors.
• Maintain data integrity of coded records.
