Job summary

Mercy is hiring a Medical Coder to review documentation in medical records across inpatient, outpatient, and professional services to assign diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding. The role requires RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CPC or CIRCC certifications (or completion within 6 months) and knowledge of 3M encoder and Epic systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Prior coding experience in ICD-10-CM diagnoses/procedure coding and CPT/HCPCS in acute care or professional services settings.
• Certification in RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC or CIRCC (or completed within 6 months).
• Working knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding systems; familiarity with 3M encoder and Epic system.

• Reviewing and analyzing documentation in the medical record to assign diagnoses and procedures as described by the physician(s) of record.
• Adhere to the Standards of Ethical Coding as set by AHIMA and follow official coding guidelines.
• Work across inpatient, outpatient, and professional services settings.
