Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• AHIMA or AAPC coding program with certification preferred.
• 1 year of coding experience required.
• Must know ICD-9-CM/ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding principles.
• Proficient with Windows-based applications and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10, CPT and/or HCPCS codes within guidelines.
• Code professional services and outpatient/hospital coding as applicable.
• Review medical documentation to ensure accuracy of codes.
• Research accounts and resolve coding questions or errors.
• Communicate with providers for documentation or clarification as needed.
• Meet department productivity and accuracy standards.
• Assist with denials, audits, and coding quality initiatives.
