Job summary

WellSpan Health in York, PA seeks an experienced Medical Coder to assign ICD-10-CM diagnoses, CPT procedures, and HCPCS items for accurate billing and quality review. You will audit charts, review operative and clinical documents, and ensure coding compliance.

The role requires at least a high school diploma or GED and 1 year of relevant experience, with multiple coding certifications encouraged on hire. Training leadership will share feedback with physicians to optimize reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of relevant coding or billing experience required.
• Certification in medical coding upon hire or soon after start.

Responsibilities

• Performs chart audits and reviews for accuracy and compliance.
• Assigns ICD-10-CM diagnoses, CPT procedures, and HCPCS items for final billing.
• Researches and processes invoice corrections.
• Presents training and feedback on coding, compliance, and reimbursement to physicians/providers.
• Coordinates reimbursement improvement activities with staff and providers.
