Job summary

WellSpan Health seeks an experienced medical coder to collect, review, retrieve, and code Evaluation & Management codes and major procedures for Medicine/Surgical practices, using medical records for quality assessment and billing purposes. This role emphasizes accuracy, compliance, and ongoing education of providers.

The position requires at least 3 years of relevant experience and a strong coding background across ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS, with eligibility or ongoing certification(s)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 3 years relevant experience required.
• Certifications listed or Upon Hire Required or related coder certifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs chart audits for accuracy and compliance.
• Reviews operative reports and assigns ICD-10-CM diagnoses, CPT-4 procedures, and HCPCS services for billing.
• Researches and processes invoice corrections.
• Reviews and analyzes coding/billing procedures.
• Provides training and feedback on medical coding, compliance, and reimbursement to physicians/providers.
• Coordinates reimbursement improvement activities with staff and providers.
• Meets WellSpan Coding Compliance Guidelines.
