Job summary

UT Health Sciences in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Medical Administrative Specialist 2 to join the University Family Physicians billing staff. The role handles office and hospital charges, processes payments and refunds, and supports accounts receivable tasks.

Responsibilities include data entry of charges, audits, payment plans, and patient/customer service related to balances. Occasional evening work may be required in a busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED. Transcript is required.
• Experience: Two (2) years of experience in a medical office setting; OR Associate’s Degree in lieu of experience.

Responsibilities

• Enters data of charges from the office, hospital, and wound care setting.
• Maintains daily missing ticket report.
• Handles UHN encounter form audits.
• Collect patient payments and establish payment plans for patients.
• Provides customer service to patients regarding their accounts and balances.
• Transmits charges and patient statements to the clearinghouse.
• Processes patient refunds.
• Assists with data entry of insurance and patient payments.
• Covers various position in the front office; assists with insurance and billings questions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
