Job summary

Harlingen Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Billing Clerk for its Harlingen, TX facility. You will post payments, reconcile accounts, and manage routine billing tasks within hospital systems.

You will analyze insurance payments, work with payers on denials, and communicate with patients and staff to resolve billing inquiries. Prior billing or cashier experience is preferred and familiarity with medical terminology is helpful.

Qualifications

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Customer服务 experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable or cashier experience preferred.
• Familiar with medical billing requirements and knowledge of insurance, coding, and medical terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Post and reconcile daily incoming payments and apply contractual adjustments; maintain patient account balances in hospital systems.
• Analyze insurance payments and managed care contracts to ensure accurate reimbursement and compliance with regulations.
• Identify, investigate and escalate underpayments or denials; collaborate with payers and internal departments to optimize revenue.
• Distribute billing, manage hospital mail, and correct mailing discrepancies.
• Provide professional, tactful communication to patients, families, and internal stakeholders regarding account inquiries and payment matters.
