Job summary

Houston Physicians Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Billing and Collections Specialist to join our medical billing team in Texas. You will generate patient statements, maintain accounts receivable files, and follow up on collections with accurate coding.

You will communicate with patients and staff to resolve billing questions, ensure timely charges are captured, and support our mission of delivering high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High School graduate required.
• Experience in medical facility or medical business office preferred.
• Experience in customer relations or teaching preferred.
• Experience in third party payer requirements preferred.
• Automated billing systems experience required.
• Training/experience in business office activities preferred.
• Requires frequent and constant judgment for timely response to patient and staff questions.
• Requires language skills adequate for effective written and interpersonal communication in American English.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for proper communication with patients, staff, and management regarding account status.
• Generates patient account statements, maintains accounts receivable files, and follow up on collection of receivables.
• Responsible for ensuring claims are billed timely with accurate coding.
• Communicates with appropriate staff to ensure all charges are being captures through proper documentation.
• Reviews financial obligation with patient and family member.
