Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, email composition, business correspondence, and general office skills.
• Knowledge of basic office functions, including message-taking, cash handling, and data entry.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to follow directions, and customer service excellence.
• Experience in an office setting and/or medical billing experience is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency with computer systems and multi-line phone environments; adaptable to changing workflows.

Responsibilities

• Bills patient accounts to insurers and payors in a timely, accurate manner according to regulations.
• Obtains insurance and demographic information; processes primary/secondary/tertiary claims.
• Verifies eligibility and benefits; reviews authorizations and denials; follows up on aging accounts.
• Enters notes into the EMR; communicates with coding and billing departments as needed.
• Answers incoming calls from patients and insurance carriers; handles refunds and appeals.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA; supports as needed across insurance vendors.
• Performs other duties related to medical billing and accounts receivable as assigned.
