The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care by taking vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab, x-ray, referrals, and patient phone messages as directed by the provider and/or clinical supervisor. This position requires population-specific competencies and adherence to National Patient Safety Goals, as appropriate based on the level of patient contact.

Qualifications
  • Current nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification/registration; OR 6 months of clinic MA experience; OR the ability to successfully complete the INTEGRIS Health Caregiver Placement Program (CPP)
  • 6 months of customer service experience preferred
  • CPR or BLS certification within 90 days of employment
  • Effective communication skills in English (Verbal/Written)
Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Gathering and documenting information about patient condition, including lab values, pain levels, education needs, nutritional status, and potential complications
  • Contributing to patient assessment/re-assessment
  • Monitoring and documenting patient status
  • Participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the care plan, including medication administration (excluding narcotics)
  • Managing large call volumes while maintaining excellent telephone etiquette
  • Organizing workflow to meet patient needs promptly
  • Retrieving and transporting medications as needed

Reports to the assigned director, manager, supervisor, or lead. This position may have additional physical demands and respiratory fit test requirements. Moderate exposure to risks, including potential exposure to infections, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, and chemicals, requires adherence to standard precautions.
