Job summary

American Family Care is hiring Part-Time Medical Assistants for our corporate-operated urgent care centers across AL, CT, FL, GA, MA and TN. You will blend clinical care with patient registration and insurance verification to keep centers running smoothly.

Responsibilities include greeting and triaging patients, venipuncture, CLIA-waived testing, and EMR accuracy, while collaborating with a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification at hire (CMA/RMA/CCMA or equivalent).
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Active BLS certification or must be obtained within onboarding period.
• Urgent care or ER experience valued.
• EMR proficiency; familiarity with payer portals.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Care: Greet, triage, collect vitals and histories; venipuncture; perform CLIA-waived tests; assist with minor procedures.
• Insurance Verification & Front Desk: Register patients, verify eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, reconcile payments.
• Patient Service: Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations; provide discharge instructions; de-escalate concerns with empathy.
• Team & Compliance: Participate in daily huddles; maintain logs; support infection-control and HIPAA standards.
