Job summary

Corewell Health in Hastings, Michigan is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to join our Urgent Care team at Pennock State St Center. You will room patients, assist with treatments, administer vaccines, perform point-of-care testing, and support a close-knit clinical staff in a busy yet collaborative environment.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or MA program completion, BLS certification within 90 days, and MA credentials within 120 days (CMA/CCMA/NHA/NCMA/NRCMA).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program OR 1 year of direct patient care in MA role.
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting preferred.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• MA certification (CMA/CCMA/NHA/NCMA/NRCMA) required within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and assist with treatments, wound care and ortho support.
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed by clinicians.
• Perform point-of-care testing and assist with clinical procedures.
• Order supplies, run audits and support daily clinic operations.

Job description

About the Practice

Provide care to community members for walk-in and non-emergent appointments. We service all ages, and our scope of treatment has a wide range based on patient need. MAs can expect to room patients, administer medications, assist with treatments, wound care, ortho care, point of care testing, vaccine administration, order supplies, run audits, and more. This office has a busy but relaxed atmosphere. The team is small and works very close with one another. There are two to three MAs on staff daily depending on provider staffing and expected volumes.

Scope of work

As a Medical Assistant with Corewell Health, you'll be a member of our clinical support team and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of the best possible care. You'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent Required
• Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills OR a minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with an MA scope of practice Required
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days
• One of the following Required within 120 Days
  • AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
  • NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
