Job summary

UPMC in Central PA is seeking motivated and enthusiastic candidates for our accelerated, full-time Medical Assistant Trainee Program. Through this paid training program, selected candidates will enroll in a UPMC-paid Medical Assistant course.

The program includes weekly clinical rotations, didactic skills modules, cost-free MA certification exam, and an externship placement at a UPMC Central PA outpatient clinic.

Qualifications

• Paid training program to become Medical Assistant.
• 4 months of classwork plus 40-hour work week.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records per HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/X-ray reports; schedule appointments; verify insurance; prepare charts.
• Prepare patient rooms; maintain infection control; restock supplies.
• Manage patient flow; assist with transfers and collecting history.
• Answer calls and provide patient education.
• Perform phlebotomy and EKGs; assist with procedures; document in medical records.
• Comply with OSHA/CLIA and confidentiality; follow UPMC policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
