Job summary

Highmark Health is offering a Medical Assistant Trainee program in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. This training is designed for individuals with little to no clinical experience and no formal MA training.

You will train two days per week at West Penn Nursing School or AHN Suburban in Bellevue and work the other three days in a physician office. Upon completion, you will sit for the Certification Exam and start working 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to learn clinical tasks with supervision.
• Preferred Basic Life Support certification (BLS).
• Compliance with HIPAA and privacy policies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepares and rooms patients, obtaining vital signs and history.
• Assists providers with examinations and procedures.
• Provides follow up with patients via chosen communication method.
• Prepares exam rooms and maintains inventory of supplies.
• Performs lab controls and equipment checks.
• Documents accurately in the electronic health record.
