Job summary

UPMC in Central PA is seeking motivated candidates for a full-time Medical Assistant Trainee program in Lemoyne, PA. Trainees will enroll in a paid MA course with clinical rotations and a certification exam, while working full-time and attending classes onsite.

Program runs approximately 4–5 months with a set pay of $16.95/hour, and a commitment to remain with UPMC Health Services for 18 months after enrollment. Benefits are offered upon employment.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent
• Current enrollment in a Medical Assistant training program is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records in HIPAA-compliant manner.
• Obtain lab and x-ray reports, prepare charts, schedule appointments, verify insurance, manage patient demographics.
• Prepare patient rooms and equipment, maintain infection control, restock supplies.
• Assist patients with mobility and examinations, take vitals and collect specimens.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic clinic procedures under supervision.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with regulatory policies.
