Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is hiring a Medical Assistant to support patient care at the appropriate skill level under provider supervision. The MA will assist physicians, manage rooms, document care, and ensure infection control and patient privacy.

Required: high school diploma or GED, current Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days, current BLS, and basic computer literacy with Excel. Local pay ranges apply and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers (written exam and in-person assessment) at time of hire or within 30 days of hire.
• Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant's practice. Operates diagnostic equipment, collects specimens, and performs minor procedures.
• Rooms patients according to policy and procedures, prepares patient for examination.
• Records patient care documentation accurately and timely in the medical record.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and company standards.
• Respects patient confidentiality and treats patients with courtesy and respect.
• Organizes exam/treatment rooms, stocks and cleans rooms and sterilizes instruments.
• Practices standard infection control precautions.
• Screening intake and information gathering.
• Supports and follows Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO).
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
