Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Medical Assistant in San Antonio, TX. The MA will support physicians and nursing staff, prepare patients for exams, and ensure accurate documentation while upholding privacy and safety standards.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, MA certification (or within 180 days), BLS, and strong communication and computer skills. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is available for external candidates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain within 180 days.
• Current BLS certification required at time of hire or within 30 days.
• Basic computer literacy with Excel.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to react calmly in emergencies.
• TB screening and immunity proof required.

Responsibilities

• Performs MA duties, administers non-intravenous meds, collects samples.
• Prepares exam rooms, sterilizes equipment, and maintains records.
• Coordinates patient care with physicians and maintains privacy.
• Delivers quality customer service and follows infection control.
