Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care under physician supervision. Responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, collecting specimens, recording patient data, and assisting with procedures while ensuring infection control and patient confidentiality.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, MA certification (or within 180 days), BLS, and basic computer skills. Eligible benefits include sign-on bonuses, PTO, and 401(k) plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers or within 30 days of hire.
• Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proven ability to react calmly in emergencies.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Reliable transportation to various clinics.
• Valid driver’s license in state of work.
• TB testing and immunity documentation required.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties within Medical Assistant scope of practice under supervision of a provider.
• Operates diagnostic equipment and collects specimens as directed.
• Rooms patients and prepares for examinations.
• Documents patient care accurately in the medical record.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and policies.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and cleans/sets up rooms.
• Follows infection control procedures and Standard Delegation of Orders.
