- Position: Full-Time Medical Assistant with the Hillman Cancer Center in Greenville, PA
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm
- No evenings, weekends, or holidays are required!
In this role, you will function as a clinical assistant. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient care, scheduling tests, working with collaborative nurses, talking with patients, taking vital signs, registering patients, maintaining stocked supplies, and ensuring clean exam rooms.

Responsibilities:
- Guide workflow and/or assign tasks to other clinical staff.
- Assist management staff with supervisory activities. Participate in the creation and implementation of departmental goals, processes, and procedures. Mentor, orient, and provide ongoing training to current and new staff members.
- Serve as the department super user for Epic Care.
- Work directly with the Manager to identify opportunities for improvement regarding Clinical/Non-Clinical functions, Infection Control Procedures, and Patient Assessments.
- Lead routine meetings with staff to communicate procedural changes to improve service quality and patient safety.
- Demonstrate proficiency in all practice category-specific tasks.
- Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
- Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Complete forms/requisitions as needed. Schedule appointments. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
- Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately. Perform front office responsibilities, prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to protocol. Maintain infection control standards by cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between visits. Manage inventory of supplies and restock as needed.
- Check schedules and organize patient flow. Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms. Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and preparation for exams. Collect patient information/history, vital signs, and perform screenings per provider guidelines. Provide patient/family education and supportive counseling as needed.
- Answer calls and provide pertinent information, including patient education.
- Under supervision of a physician, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.
- Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs. Assist physicians with procedures. Document patient information into the medical record.
- Comply with regulatory requirements (OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain confidentiality of medical records and data. Follow all UPMC policies and procedures.
