Job summary

Corewell Health’s Gastroenterology Grand Rapids clinic seeks a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our clinical support team. You will assist physicians and nurses, support patient care, and help maintain smooth patient flow in a busy outpatient setting.

We offer a $3,000 sign-on bonus for external applicants or CHW MA Apprentice students, with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities to grow within a 300+-clinic system in Michigan. Day shifts, 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program or 1 year direct patient care experience.
• BLS certification required within 90 days.
• One of CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA/NRCMA certifications required within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Be part of the clinical support team ensuring delivery of high-quality patient care.
• Work closely with physicians, nurses, and staff to support patient flow and documentation.
• Perform MA scope of practice tasks as trained and supervised.

Practice Overview

The gastroenterology practice sees patients for acute and chronic situations. Patients of this clinic may be long term patients or be seen for consultations of a one-time situation. Many patients are referred to our space for evaluation of illnesses ranging from esophageal issues, pancreas and liver conditions to lower abdominal symptoms, Crohn’s, Colitis, as well as Liver Diseases and Cancer.

Scope of work

As a Medical Assistant with Corewell Health, you'll be a member of our clinical support team and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of the best possible care. You'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent Required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training OR a minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with MA scope of practice Required
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days
• One of the following Required within 120 Days
• AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
• AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
• NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
• NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
• NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
