Corewell Health is seeking a GI Medical Assistant to support gastroenterology providers at our North Muskegon Care Center. You will room patients, prepare visits, manage routine clinical messaging, and assist with medications, referrals, recalls, and follow-ups in a collaborative team setting.

The role requires a Medical Assistant credential or hands-on MA experience, with BLS certification due within 90 days and MA certifications within 120 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completed accredited Medical Assistant program with hands-on skills, or 1 year MA experience.
• BLS/CPR certification required within 90 days.
• Within 120 days: CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA or NRCMA certification.

Scope of work

The GI Medical Assistant supports gastroenterology providers and patients through rooming, visit preparation, routine clinical messaging, medication and order support, referrals, recalls, and follow-up activities. This role works collaboratively with providers, nurses, and support staff to maintain efficient clinic flow and ensure patients receive timely, coordinated care within the MA scope of practice.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent Required
• Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills OR a minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with an MA scope of practice Required
• 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days
• One of the following Required within 120 Days
  • AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
  • NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
