Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Medical Assistant - Primary Care for the Triton Pavilion in La Jolla. You will support patient care under clinic supervision, room patients, record vital signs, perform venipuncture, handle scheduling, and maintain infection control standards.

The role requires CMA training, BART/BLS certification, at least one year in a fast-paced clinical setting, and strong teamwork and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
• Current BART certification, or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.
• Minimum one (1) year of medical assistant experience in a fast-paced Primary Care or Family Medicine setting.
• Proficiency in venipuncture/blood draws.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, universal precautions, and proper body mechanics.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients, taking vital signs, and assisting with procedures.
• Performing venipuncture and specimen collection.
• Managing patient flow and supporting efficient clinic operations.
• Scheduling appointments and navigating electronic health records.
• Maintaining exam rooms, stocking supplies, and ensuring infection control standards.
• Supporting providers with in-basket tasks and patient communication.
