Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for Triton Health and Wellness Primary Care on the UCSD campus. The role includes clinical and administrative duties, such as rooming patients, venipuncture, and scheduling, under supervision of the Clinic Manager and licensed staff.

The position requires CMA or accredited MA training, BART/BLS certification, and at least 1 year of fast-paced primary care experience. UCSD workflows familiarity is a plus.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
• Current BART certification, or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.
• Minimum one year of medical assistant experience in a fast-paced Primary Care or Family Medicine setting.
• Proficiency in venipuncture/blood draws.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, universal precautions, and proper body mechanics.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients, taking vital signs, and assisting with procedures.
• Performing venipuncture and specimen collection.
• Managing patient flow and supporting efficient clinic operations.
• Scheduling appointments and navigating electronic health records.
• Maintaining exam rooms, stocking supplies, and ensuring infection control standards.
• Supporting providers with in-basket tasks and patient communication.

Education

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program

BART certification or BLS certification with commitment to obtain BART within six months

Minimum one year of medical assistant experience in a fast-paced Primary Care or Family Medicine setting

Proficiency in venipuncture

Knowledge of medical terminology, universal precautions, and proper body mechanics
