Job summary

Roots Community Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support a multidisciplinary team in delivering general primary care in a community health setting in Oakland. You will manage patient intake, record vitals, administer injections where appropriate, and assist providers during exams.

The role requires at least 2 years of MA experience, strong clinical skills, and familiarity with Electronic Health Records.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2 years’ experience in a community clinic or medical office preferred.
• Registration with the American Medical Technicians Association or CMA preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy, EKG, and audiometry.
• Familiarity with Electronic Health Records.
• Proficiency in English; Spanish language skills preferred.
• Non-profit or community clinic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and maintain infection control.
• Assist in patient flow by rooming clients and tracking exam room availability.
• Take and record vital signs in the EHR.
• Assist during examinations and with immunizations and phlebotomy.
• Copy and file lab results and reports.
• Maintain supplies and perform basic in-clinic lab testing.
• Cross-train at Oakland sites and participate in team meetings.
