Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Two years’ MA experience in community clinic or medical office preferred.
• Certification in Medical Assisting or registration with relevant body preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms per infection control procedures.
• Manage patient flow by timely rooming and monitoring exam room availability.
• Take and record vital signs in the EHR.
• Interact with clients respectfully and maintain professional boundaries.
• Perform intake, medical histories, and initial assessments.
• Record patient chief complaints and prepare for practitioner visits.
• Perform EKG, audiometry, and other tests as needed.
• Assist practitioners during examinations.
• Administer immunizations, phlebotomy, and basic in-clinic lab tests.
• Copy and file lab results, x-rays, and reports in patient records.
• Maintain adequate medical supply stocks and check expiration dates.
• Perform quality control testing of equipment and log results.
• Check immunization refrigerator temperature daily.
• Provide patient education per clinic protocols.
• Keep all clinic areas neat and clean.
• Chart patient follow-ups and other activities.
• Cross-train at all Oakland sites.
• Assist with follow-up and referrals.
• Attend team meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to work on-site full-time.
