Job summary

Valor Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant for our Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Ithaca, NY. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver prescribed medical treatments and patient care under physician supervision.

Responsibilities include patient care, scheduling, lab specimen collection, and using EMR systems. The role emphasizes excellent customer service, adherence to VA guidelines, and participation in outreach efforts to enroll patients.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate as a Medical Assistant or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of MA experience in primary or ambulatory care, government healthcare preferred.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS may be required by VA contract.
• Proficient in English, both written and spoken; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care, examinations and procedures.
• Schedule appointments and manage clinic lists and recalls.
• Answer phones and relay messages promptly.
• Prepare check-in materials and medication lists for the next day.
• Collect lab specimens and operate diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain compliance with OIG, JC, EOC, and lab requirements.
• Deliver excellent customer service to patients and staff.
• Support outreach and patient enrollment activities.
