Job summary

Starling Physicians in New York is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians, PAs and NPs with clerical duties, patient flow and routine care. Responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, maintaining patient flow, updating medication lists in EHR, documenting vitals and allergies, and coordinating referrals.

Strong English communication and basic computer skills required; BLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduation from an accredited medical assistant or phlebotomy program is required.
• 0–1 year related work experience is required; 2–4 years preferred.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to communicate in English, both oral and written, is required.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the examination room and escorts patient into the room. Maintains efficient patient flow.
• Ensures proper preparation for patient visits and documentation in the EHR.
• Takes vital signs and documents them in the EHR; updates allergy lists.
• Enter orders and schedule appointments in the PMS and EHR; provide referrals as needed.
• Adheres to universal safety precautions when handling medications and dispose of medical waste.
• Provides scribing services and supports care transitions as needed.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Graduated from an accredited medical assistant or phlebotomy program

0-1 year related work experience

2-4 years related work experience

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Ability to communicate in English

Basic proficiency in computer use
