Job summary

Summit Health in New York is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians, PAs or NPs with patient flow, room preparation, and basic clinical tasks in a fast-paced outpatient setting. The role involves preparing examination rooms, aiding patient movement, and maintaining cleanliness to ensure smooth clinics.

You will document in the EHR, manage scheduling and referrals, and maintain supplies while upholding safety standards and respectful patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Graduated from an accredited medical assistant or phlebotomy program, required.
• 0-1 year related work experience, required.
• 2-4 years related work experience, preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or within 30 days of hire, required.
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, required.
• Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner, required.
• Basic proficiency in computer use, required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the examination room.
• Escorts patient into the room.
• Cleans examination room when exam is complete.
• Maintains efficient patient flow.
• Documents appropriately in EHR.
• Reviews and updates medication list and accurately documents known allergies in the EHR.
• Provides referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the PMS and EHR.
• Understands and performs within scope of practice.
• Assists in ordering and maintaining of all supplies as assigned.
• All other duties as assigned.
