Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support smooth and efficient clinical operations, greet patients, check‑in, and schedule appointments. You will assist patients with physical and psychological limitations and help ensure exceptional patient experiences.

Duties include vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, point‑of‑care testing, EMR documentation and coordination with providers to maintain accurate records and timely flow. Vaccination is required for staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Basic familiarity with computers and ability to navigate web-based applications.
• MA, EMT, CNA, LNA certificate or diploma or equivalent clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy and assisting during routine procedures.
• Performs point of care testing and quality control; provides patient instructions for tests.
• Maintains medical equipment and supplies; ensures cleanliness and proper expiration dating.
• Reviews medication lists in EMR for final review by licensed providers; may retrieve Schedule VI meds under supervision.
• Uses EMR (OMR) to queue prescription renewals and to enter/scribe orders; documents tasks for billing.
• Prepares schedules, patient charts and documents for clinical activities per standards.
• Monitors waiting room flow; informs patients and providers of delays and screens calls.
