Job summary

New York Health (NYH) in Port Jefferson Station, NY, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient intake, vital signs, labs, EKGs, and front-office duties. This full-time position requires a Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma, with EMR proficiency and bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Starting pay is $22 per hour, with comprehensive benefits from Day 1 including health, dental and vision, life and disability coverage, 401k, PTO, and 8 paid holidays.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma are required.
• Proficiency with an EMR system is preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
• Able to sit for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient intakes and record information accurately.
• Collect and process lab specimens, including venipuncture and tests.
• Record patients' vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examinations.
• Sterilize medical equipment and instruments.
• Assist providers and support staff with data entry.
• Support physicians during visits and procedures.
• Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Medical Assistant

Location: Port Jefferson Station, NY

Hours/Days: 5/8.5 hour shifts, Mon-Fri between 7am-7:30pm

Organization: New York Health (NYH) - PCP

In This Role, You Will

• Manage patient intakes, ensuring accurate information recording
• Collect and process lab specimens, including venipuncture and diagnostic tests
• Record patients' vital signs
• Prepare patients for examinations
• Sterilize medical equipment and instruments
• Assist providers and other support staff in the data entry process
• Assist physicians during visits with examinations and all office procedures
• Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing
• Other duties as assigned

We Require

• A Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma
• Proficiency with an EMR system (Preferred)
• Bilingual English/Spanish (Preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs
