Job summary

New York Health (NYH) seeks a Medical Assistant for our Three Village- Setauket, NY location. The role supports physicians and staff in a fast-paced, patient-centered setting.

You will handle patient intakes, venipuncture, vital signs, EKGs, and prepare patients for exams while maintaining sterile technique and accurate EMR documentation.

Qualifications

• Must have Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma.
• Proficiency with an EMR system preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and travel to NYH locations.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient intakes and record information accurately.
• Collect and process lab specimens, including venipuncture and tests.
• Record patients' vital signs and prepare for examinations.
• Sterilize equipment and assist during visits.
• Assist physicians and other staff with data entry and procedures.
• Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing.
• Other duties as assigned by the team.

Job Description

Medical Assistant

Location: Three Village- Setauket, NY

Hours/Days: 4/10 hour shifts, Mon,Tue,Wed,& Fri (RDO Thu) 7:30am-6:00pm

Organization: New York Health (NYH) - PCP

In this role, you will:

• Manage patient intakes, ensuring accurate information recording
• Collect and process lab specimens, including venipuncture and diagnostic tests
• Record patients' vital signs
• Prepare patients for examinations
• Sterilize medical equipment and instruments
• Assist providers and other support staff in the data entry process
• Assist physicians during visits with examinations and all office procedures
• Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing
• Other duties as assigned

We require:

• A Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma
• Proficiency with an EMR system (Preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs
